Meet the Team

Adam Young began his career at the age of 12 washing dishes at the local inn in his hometown of Brandon, Vermont. He grew up on living on a small dairy farm where he developed a strong worth ethic set forth by his farming parents. Adam went on to attend New England Culinary Institute in Montpelier, VT and found himself working all along the East Coast after graduation. He was fortunate to work under the late French Master Chef René Bajeux, and Olympic Chef Joe Faria, where he gained a strong passion for cultivating the talents of the next generation. Before opening Sift Bake Shop in the spring of 2016, Adam was the Executive Pastry Chef at Ocean House Hotel & Resort, a Forbes Five Star, Five Diamond, Relais & Chateaux property where he was on the opening culinary team and ran a 24-hour pastry operation for six years.

In 2016, he left Ocean House to venture out on his own, and opened Sift Bake Shop in May of 2016. In summer of 2018, he opened a second Sift location in Watch Hill, RI, and in 2019 Sift underwent a massive expansion, which included a rooftop cocktail bar, Mix at Sift. In summer of 2020 Adam opened his eponymous doughnut shop, Young Buns Doughnuts and founded his online chocolate company, Adam T. Young Confections. Most recently, A.T.Y. Hospitality is also thrilled to announce its latest adventure, Sift Niantic, opening in July 2022.

In 2018 Adam was crowned Food Network’s BEST BAKER IN AMERICA and was also named Best Pastry Chef in Connecticut by the CT Restaurant Association in 2019. Adam is also a frequent contributor to Food Network and can recently be seen as a guest judge on Food Network’s “Holiday Gingerbread Showdown” and “Chopped Sweets.” Recently Adam published his own cookbook, Adam Young’s Sift Cookbook.

A graduate of Providence College, Ebbie Young fell into the world of hospitality when she was hired to help open the renowned Ocean House hotel in 2006. She spent nearly eight years working in the field of luxury hospitality and was an integral part of the opening team in 2010. During her time at Ocean House she developed a deep appreciation for genuine service, branding, and the importance of relationships—especially within our community.

In 2014, Ebbie left to pursue a new opportunity at Stonington Vineyards, where she handled marketing, events, and community outreach. Under Ebbie’s leadership the vineyard experienced great success and some of the most profitable years on record. In 2020, after six amazing years at Stonington Vineyards (and two amazing children later), Ebbie left to assist further behind the scenes at A.T.Y Hospitality.

Ebbie is well versed in social media strategies, copywriting, marketing and advertising. In 2023, Ebbie wrote her own children’s book about the adventures of her two daughters in the bake shop. They are the joy of Ebbie & Adam’s lives.
